1. What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser. Local storage works similarly but stays on your device and isn't sent to the website with each request.
2. Cookies and storage Grow Mate uses
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| gm_session | Cookie, strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in to the dashboard | 30 days, or until you sign out |
| gm_profile | Local storage | Your niche, account type, goal and Instagram username | Until you clear it |
| gm_checklist, gm_planner, gm_streak | Local storage | Checklist progress, weekly planner and posting streak | Until you clear it |
| gm_voice | Local storage | Your saved brand voice samples | Until you clear it |
| gm_theme | Local storage | Light or dark theme choice | Until you clear it |
| gm_gen_* | Local storage | Your most recent result from each AI tool | Until you clear it |
| Service worker cache | Browser cache | Loads the site faster and offline | Until the site updates it |
3. Third-party cookies
- Google sets its own cookies when you use “Sign in with Google”, under Google's privacy policy.
- Instagram (Meta) can set cookies when an embedded Instagram post loads on the post idea page or in the dashboard, under Meta's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts loads the site's typefaces; it receives your IP address but doesn't set cookies.
4. How to control cookies
You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. Blocking the gm_session cookie stops you from signing in to the dashboard; the free tools keep working. Clearing site data removes everything listed above from your device.
